About the BridgeFire Workshop

BridgeFire is a three-day talent accelerator programme at Flames Studios, Constitution Hill, fired up by Nando’s and curated by Bridges For Music. The aim is to create, to inspire and to connect.

The event brings together 10 participants from Bridges For Music, a non-profit organisation gathering key players from the music industry to support emerging talents and build new-age learning programmes, to help equip them for a career in music through support from experienced professionals.

Meet the participants

Zoey M

“I am a singer and a songwriter with a bubbly personality and a love for people.

I will always choose kindness; you never know what the next person is going through. I'm a Virgo and I always keep it real.”

Wenawdu

“The One and Only. I am a lover of life, nomadic spirit, flower child, musician, DJ and creative. My music and musical taste reflect my own experience within South Africa; within Africa; within the world.”

Kallo

"I am a singer/songwriter from Johannesburg. I began singing at the tender age of four and sang throughout school, both as part of the school choir and in a group called The Band.

During my second year at music college, I entered South African Idols (2017) and made it to the Top 48. I hope that my music is a representation of who I am: loving, fun and healing. I want to leave my audience with a feeling of positivity after every performance."

Yamz

“I am a vocalist, writer, DJ and aspiring producer hailing from Langa, the first township in Cape Town. I am not genre-specific but my work has been prominently associated with electronic house music, hip hop and pop. But I remain open to experimenting with and learning new genres. I want to create and enjoy as much music and innovation around the world as possible, leaving a beautiful footprint of creativity."

Desiree

“Equally at ease showcasing cutting-edge threads on the catwalk and spinning the sketchiest new tracks in underground South African deep-house clubs, Desiree represents feminine intelligence, empowerment and style, effortlessly traversing careers between the fashion and music industries."

MASŠH

"I am a Joburg-based artist with a unique sound I call ‘astral’, derived from ‘astral projection’, an esoteric term to describe a wilful out-of-body experience, which is what I want people to feel when they listen to my art. I have managed a no. 1 on DJ Loyd's The House Connect on 5FM, as well as being one of #SelectiveStyles best of 2020. My latest offering is the EP Falling into Place. As the future unfolds, I hope to grow with the best house music has to offer.”

Khan Khalii

"I am a singer, songwriter and producer from Durban, but raised in Pretoria North. I was a nominee for the 2020 edition of the 012 Awards Mixtape of The Year for my debut EP Lost In The Trap. I am excited for whatever comes next!"

Phodii

"I am an Afro house and Afro tech DJ, producer and curator from South Africa. I am the Founder of Pieces Africa® – a digital media platform dedicated to embracing and spotlighting African music while accelerating and encouraging African creativity and collaboration."

Rudy DA DJ

"I am a producer/beat-maker, photographer and DJ from Cape Town. I started to DJ and produce music simultaneously back in 2010. Since then, I have managed to specialise in most music genres. I am currently focused on getting my music out to the world.”

To Starquality

"I was born and raised in Tembisa, Johannesburg. I started pursuing music while studying Quantity Surveying at WITS.  I was touring the country playing for various gospel artists as a bass player and through networking and experience I found myself in jazz, gaining knowledge from the Moses Molelekwa Arts Foundation, which gave me wings to play and share stages with Malaika, Simphiwe Dana, Judith Sephuma, Themba Mkhize and many other prominent jazz artists. Since 2010, I have expanded into producing, recording and performing my own music."
